Opt Out of the ACSA Peer Auditing Process – EDITED

NOTE: As of May 4, 2017, ACSA has decided to remove this program.

Did you know that it is possible to opt out of the peer auditing process with ACSA and use and external consultant auditor for both internal and external audits?  As of January 1, 2015, changes to the SECOR and COR programs through the ACSA stated that a company would no longer be required to staff a full-time employee to complete yearly maintenance audits. This information was published in the ACSA Advisor magazine back in Winter 2014, volume 26, issue 4.

The information in the magazine says:

  • A certified auditor will no longer be required on staff: a full-time employee must have taken the three-day auditor training program or the on-day auditor training recertification within the last three years.  Any staff currently certified will no longer be required to conduct their yearly maintenance audits.
  • An employee will be required to complete the auditor training program recertification course every three years to stay aware of any changes to the audit protocol.
  • All future audits (Internal and External) for the company will have to be conducted by a consultant from the ACSA Approved Consultant list
  • If a company has been part of the peer process in the past and wishes to opt-out going forward, they will still be responsible for reciprocating any outstanding audit days. The company should contact the COR department to discuss their options.

This change means no more wasted time trying to keep an in-house auditors certification valid, and On-Track Safety can complete both your internal and external safety audits. Give us a call today to find out more information.

*Please note that the person at your company completing the ACSA auditor course is still required to complete the self-qualification audit in order to hold a valid auditor certificate.
